Afan Forest Park – it just wasn’t meant to be
With the rain having?finally stopped falling out of the sky and the sun shining, I wandered off to the Afan Forest Park last Sunday, to start the filming of a time lapse sequence that I wanted to do about the road journey to the park. With the GoPro securely mounted on my truck, I headed off to the park. All went well with the time lapse sequence, so I thought I would spend an hour or so photographing some mountain biking from a distance to build a sense of place with the photo project.
A short distance from the visitors centre I had the opportunity to get close to a Wren singing from one of?the song posts within it’s territory. Typically the camera was all packed up in the rucksack as I wasn’t expecting to be able to photograph anything a soon as that. After a short walk further up the hill, I got into position to photograph some riders on one of my favourite bends on the trail. A few images later a new position and location was called for. and then it happened, the sole of my walking boot fell off my right foot! End of excursion.
Not to totally let my creative inspiration fail, I recorded some of the changes in the forest across the valley from the Afan Forest Park visitors centre, headed back to the truck and got some normal shoes back on. I can’t complain though as my boots are about 20 years old and have seen service all over Wales, from Gower to Snowdon.
